"Yeah... Actually he was a little weird now that I think about it. But the nurses weren't particularly mean to me..."

Akio sighed, "They said they wouldn't allow me at your side though when the time comes and I don't quite appreciate that."

Mizu shrugged, "That's pretty normal here. What's wrong with that?"

[Ikuar]

Akio furrowed his brows, "Everything. Mizu they were rude to me and treated me like I couldn't take care of you. I..." He shook his head, "Forget it. If that's what you want I'll drop you off there and wait outside. I'm not going to take that kind of treatment."

Mizu frowned, and looked away. She hated it when he got mad it scared her and she didn't know what to say.
"I'm sorry... I didn't mean to make you mad."
She whispered and stared out the window helplessly she felt tears fall down her face. She couldn't understand why he was mad... It wasn't that she didn't want him there, it just didn't seam important. They'd allow him in after the birth to be sure. That's when the baby would be there anyway. She couldn't understand it.

"I was remembering how brokenhearted Kay was when Iwa wasn't there to take her hand. She was scared, wasn't she?" Akio said, his voice was strong, "I promised I'd be there every step of the way. That's why it matters."

"But.... I'm not scared... Maybe I should be, I don't know... But I'm just not." She said still not looking at him, her tears were still flowing.
She shook her head and brushed the tears away.
"But. I guess it's important right? To have someone hold your hand? Maybe I'll understand later... So we'll find a place your comfortable with. Don't be mad okay." She said turning to face him, she smiled a bit.

"Like I said, I want you to be happy and if that means not being there with you that's fine." Akio was completely stiff and frustrated. He thought she'd want him there but that wasn't the case. She didn't care that the people there said horrible things to him. He stopped at a simple restaurant and climbed out of the car, still opening the door for her even in his frustration.

Mizu got out quietly, holding back tears again. "That's not it. It's not that I want you not to be there. It's just I..." She shook her head. She hated this she was making him even more upset by talking. She felt her tears give way again.
"I'm sorry." She covered her face. "I'm messing everything up."

Akio leaned against the wall suddenly, "If it makes you happier I won't be there. I want you to be comfortable and if that means not having me there then that's fine." He held the door open for her, wishing she would stop being so stubborn when he was only trying to look out for her. She was strange about this and every time he thought of her words he wanted to yell and rant but he didn't want to at the same time.

She was hurting him more than she knew. For that reason he chose not to eat anything because he just wouldn't if he was upset.

Mizu shook her head. "No... I just... I don't know..." She fiddled with her food, not really hungry now. "It's, I mean I've never had a baby before, so I don't know what to do. I don't want to bother anyone... I didn't want to make you run around trying to find a hospital, and... and..." She sobbed, covering her face in her arms.

[Ikuar]

"You didn't hear me. I had reasons for not liking the place, trust me. I told you for one that the doctor treated me like dirt and the nurses were doing the same. They acted like I couldn't take care of you. Then you made me feel worse by telling me it didn't matter if I was there or not." I repeated, "When did it become so okay that people abuse me and..." He couldn't talk anymore. It was pointless.

"It's not okay." She cried though it was hard to make out through her tears, and the fact she was hiding them with her arms. "I'm sorry. I... Don't want you to be treated badly... I..."
People in the restaurant were starring at them now.

[Ikuar]

"I don't want to talk about this anymore. When it happens we'll do whatever comes to mind. I can't do this anymore. Just stop crying and let's have lunch." Akio wasn't in the mood to discuss it anymore. He felt unwanted and pushed away.

She was silent then. But still only fiddled with the food on her plate. There was no way she could eat when he was still so upset, she was also upset at herself for making him feel unwanted.

[Ikuar]

"Stop feeling upset." He sighed, "If this is what you want I'll support you. I'm thinking of you first, okay?" He gave her a smile but inside his chest was still hurting - probably from feeling rejected. But he wanted the best for her.

She looked at the floor. "I can't eat. I'm sorry..." She pushed the plate away. "I don't want to go there at all... Never mind. I just need more sleep I guess." She said even though she wasn't tired. "Sorry for wasting money..."

[Ikuar]

"We didn't spend any money. It was just a tour of the place, that's all. I just wanted you to be sure what you wanted before we made any hasty decisions. What's important is that they aren't being horrible to you. It was just me." Akio said.

"No... I meant the food. I can't finish it... I feel kind of sick to my stomach." She frowned. "It matters that they were being horrible to you! I'm sorry I didn't pay enough attention to you earlier. But I don't want to go somewhere that isn't going to treat you kindly..." She sighed. "Sorry... I know you don't want to talk about it any-more. I'll stop... I'm going out to the car..." She stood up to go.

[Ikuar]

"Wait, wait!" Akio called and pulled her back carefully, "You aren't waiting out there in that weather. Sit down and relax a minute."

She sat back in her seat silently, her stomach really felt kind of queasy so she was glad he had stopped her. She didn't really want to move at all. She sat completely still.

[Ikuar]

-a few months later-

"I don't think we're leaving." Akio said. The flights had all been canceled around the time he thought they might leave so he planned on staying longer. The only thing was things were getting him on his toes. The baby for one thing. It had been thunder storming for three days on another note.

He was worried.

"It's okay." She hugged him smiling. "I'm sure we'll get home soon enough."
She too was actually a bit worried that the baby would come soon. She was starting to feel a few contractions, and she was frightened that the baby was going to come right here. Though they had stopped now so she decided not to tell him.
"The rain should let up soon."

[Ikuar]

"I wouldn't fly across the ocean with you this pregnant anyway. Do you like Japan enough to stay here with the baby for a while?" He asked. He hoped she didn't mind. He liked Japan anyway.

"Yeah it's great here!" She said smiling. "I mean two of my grandparents are here so that's really nice."
