Miranda watched Owen light the fire for a second and then she made eye contact with Draco, she hoped her expression would be enough to say everything she wanted to say, thank yous... and much more. She loved having them close to her.

She pulled the meat and bread out and wandered happily to Owen, trying to show off her dress in the process, he hadn't said anything earlier, but that was logical.

Owen looked up and smiled warmly then, relieved to see her there. "That dress looks great on you." He commented, noting her obvious tries at showing it off to him. "You don't have to cook... you should rest. You've had a long morning already." He blew at a few of the other coals which seemed unhappy with the kindling he'd tossed in.

Miranda showed him the sandwich things and then sat down by the fire, she was definitely going to cook whether he liked it or not. "....!" She unwrapped the meat eagerly, it was clear she was as hungry as he was.

Owen glanced nervously between Mira and the fire, and every so often, Draco... who was sleeping soundly. He gulped some and stared at the fire in front of him, trying to decide how to deal with a witch. And also... how he would even be able to help Mira. He'd told her he would help, but was he able to? He wasn't certain he understood the situation completely. Something about true loves... and them being killed, and some witch. It was too complicated.

"What's wrong?" Was suddenly wrote into the dirt near him and Miranda hurried to pretend like she hadn't gotten distracted with cooking. She smiled fondly at him and put together a quick sandwich for him. It was nice and toasty, and smelled like a home cooked meal.

Owen stared at the words for a long moment before realizing he'd been given a sandwich. He took it with a grateful smile and shook his head. "Nothing... nothing is wrong. And thank you for the sandwich it smells amazing!"

As if saying "you're welcome", Miranda nodded and then made a sandwich for herself. It was delicious and juicy, and she hadn't eaten that well in quite some time. After a few moments of silence, she looked at him longingly as if wanting him to talk to her, she was ready to listen to anything he had to say.

Owen looked up and smiled to her again when he noticed she was staring at him. The sandwich was the most delicious meal he'd had in a long time. He'd finished it quickly, and was stoking the fire again. She seemed to want him to say something, but he wasn't sure what to say. Well, he had a lot of questions to ask... questions with answers that were probably too complex to write out. He looked back to the fire and sighed a little. "It's really okay, there isn't anything wrong with me." He said to her with a slight chuckle. "I'm really okay."

Miranda hadn't wanted him to keep it so short like that, she knew he had a lot on his mind though. She wrote in the dirt with a stick she picked up and once she finished, she dropped the stick beside her.

"My husband was killed by the witch. She was important to me."

He sighed then and frowned when he read what she wrote. "So you were married, then...." He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Why did she kill him?"

Miranda cleared the last bit and wrote again, "She wants to see me suffer." She replied, her eyes welled with tears again. "I thought she was done..."

"Ah, I see..." Owen replied slowly. "Is that the only reason? She just... randomly picked you to suffer?"

Miranda shook her head slowly and wrote again, "We were best friends." That time she put the stick down to try and finish her sandwich, she'd been eating rather slowly, up until then.

"Ah..." Owen nodded and stoked the fire some more. He had a frown of concentration spread across his lips, and he glared at the fire. This whole thing... he didn't understand a bit of it.

"MIRA!!" Elsia squealed, running to her best friend. "Mira!! Look what I got you!!" She held up a bloody charm and she grinned big. "It's a rabbit's foot charm! It's for good luck! I made it myself!!"

Miranda gasped and stepped back, nearly tripping over something in the process, "Elsia! What... aren't these normally cleaned up first?" Elsia had been a little strange lately... but Miranda just smiled and took it, "I'll wash it, thank you so much!" She didn't want to hurt her best friend's feelings.

Elsia frowned a little. "Sorry... I just got so excited to bring it to you!" Elsia's dress was completely covered in blood then. "I killed the rabbit myself with my own magic!! It was just eatin' a carrot and I choked it by pulling all of the air away from its face!!"

Miranda wasn't sure what to say, her eyes were wide with shock and she looked at the foot and felt a ton of agony rush through her... as if she could feel what it felt. Without thinking, she gasped in pain and dropped it on the ground. "I don't know what... I'm sorry, my stomach just started hurting really bad suddenly..." She reached for it shakily, "Thank you for the kind gesture..."

It seemed like a bad idea to get on Elsia's bad side. Something wasn't right.

"Mira? Is sumthin' wrong?" Elsia frowned, seemingly upset. "Are you... scared of me too?"

Owen glanced over to Mira again who seemed to be completely lost in her own thoughts. He looked her over carefully, with the new-found knowledge that she had been married once. He paused when he saw the tan-line of the ring on her finger. He wondered why he hadn't noticed it before... it was pretty obvious.

Miranda shook herself out of a daze when she noticed Owen staring at her and then she smiled and scooted over to hug him, he was so nice to hug. She wondered if it was boring for him to sit there and her not to say a word... she wanted more to talk to him, to laugh... to reply instead of writing in the dirt. Her thoughts drifted to Elsia... what had happened? Why had she suddenly become so dark?

Owen pulled his arm out of her grip so he could wrap it around her as he continued to poke at the coals of the fire. They seemed to sparkle, and dance... as if life was so fleeting for them, that there was no reason to not have fun. No reason to not dance... "You're cold..."

Miranda gasped a little when she was hugged and she cuddled into his warmth. He was right, she was really cold and she needed someone like him... who was nice and warm to be around. Suddenly, Draco was behind them and his warmth only added to the comfort.
He huffed slightly, "No sleeping alone..." Then he fell back asleep.

Owen smiled happily. "It's only midday, and that dragon is already sleeping... what a lazy bum." He prodded the coals with his sword and they shot into the air with sparkles and dances.

Miranda seemed to make a giggling expression, turning slightly to pat Draco's side gently. When she turned back, she wrote into the ground again.

"He's sweet. I like you both very much."

Owen's cheeks reddened and he rubbed her arm gently. "We like you very much too. You're very kind." And beautiful... and a widow. For someone so young to be a widow didn't seem fair to Owen. He was more than old enough to have lost a wife... if he'd ever had one... but she... she wasn't at all.

Miranda nodded to him cheerfully as a thank you, she'd learned many ways to make up for her lack of speech. It meant a lot to her to communicate with them both. Her expression softened when she noticed how sad he looked and she reached up to rub his cheek gently. Using her other hand, she wrote once again.

"Please talk to me."
