Re: Actions Speak Louder
"I think so too..." Owen smiled and laid his blanket over her, then felt her forehead. "Her fever has gone down... I think she was just hungry." He sighed some and sat near her, watching her closely. "I've never seen a more beautiful woman before in my life though. She has a tongue, I saw that, so... why can't she speak? It's as if she has no voice at all...:
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Draco glanced down at her, "She has no voice... I believe it's a curse... but I can't say for sure what might break it or if indeed it isn't a curse or an enchantment..."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen frowned at that. "Hmn... but why? What is it she could have done to deserve something like that? If it is a curse of course."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
"It could be a wide range of things... but I can't say for sure on that one either. I say we keep her with us." Draco said this more as a command than a suggestion.
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen sighed and tilted his head some. "It could be dangerous for her though. We aren't exactly good company... we're also be chased by those baboons that want your hide for their boats." He gazed at the sleeping woman for a while longer and brushed a lock of her curly, almond-tinted hair. "I guess it wouldn't be so bad having a lady as company... it just means we'll have to be slightly less reckless."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
"That was an accident." Draco reminded him in an annoyed tone, "Either way, we can protect her better than she would be on her own. It's clear that she had no means of food or water... or shelter, might I add."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
"I know, I know... I'm not arguing." He smiled softly, not even realizing how entranced he'd become by her. "Maybe she can cook... I'm tired of burnt jerky..."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
"Don't stab at my cooking skills, that jerky tastes delicious. Perhaps though..." Draco smiled again and then laid his head down to rest. "It's late... you said so yourself."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
"Mhm... yeah." Owen yawned a little bit. "Just don't drool on me again tonight... I don't want to stink like that again." He laid next to Mira and closed his eyes as the dragon's great wing curled tighter over them as protection from enemies.
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda woke up and shifted sleepily out from under the dragon's wing. Both of them were still resting peacefully so she worked on waking up and then went and snuck into the bag to find jerky. She wouldn't take much... just enough to stave off some of the morning hunger.
"Hmm?" Draco peered at her over his wing. "Good morning." His voice was so deep and warm.
"...." Miranda blinked nervously, clutching a piece of jerky tightly within her fists.
"Go ahead, I'm sure he'd already offer if he was awake."
She nodded and took careful bites.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Draco yawned then, his massive jaws revealing teeth as sharp as swords which glittered in the morning sun. "Is there much left?" The big dragon rumbled. "Or should we make a stop soon?"
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda dug through the bag a little and frowned, shaking her head slowly so that seemed to be a clear enough answer. She stared at the two pieces in her hand and got up, her legs were shaky as she approached the dragon, hand outstretched.
".....?" She was trying to give him some.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
The dragon seemed to purr then, and he smiled kindly, reaching his head forward to nuzzle her cheek. "No, child... I cannot eat that. I am very grateful, but I prefer a whole sheep or cow instead a peace of one." His deep voice rumbled softly in her ear. "You are very kind."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda stepped back just a little, but his touch was gentle and calming... she shivered happily and refrained from taking another bite. She'd just give the rest to Owen, it was his jerky after all. With a smile, she put the rest of the jerky away and then sat quietly, waiting for Owen to wake up.
The whole time though, she stared at Draco with interest.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Draco peered out of the corner of his eyes when a loud yawn broke the silence and Owen stretched a bit. "Mmm..." He opened his eyes and blinked a few times.
"Good morning, Owen." Draco rumbled.
"Mmmnn... Morning..." Owen smiled sleeping to them both and yawned again. "Did you get yourself something to eat, Mira?"

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda nodded quickly and shoved the bag over to him, "....." She then held up two fingers to tell him what was left of the jerky.
Re: Actions Speak Louder
"Oh! She left me some!!" Owen grinned happily and Draco chuckled.
"She is very kind, she tried to offer me some. I like her already, Owen." Draco purred in pure contentment.
Owen chuckled a bit and pulled out the last two pieces of jerky and ate one, then handed Mira the last. "I don't need to eat as much as you..." He said kindly, gesturing to his ears which rose to a sharp point. "You're always welcome to eat to your fill... speaking of which, I think we need to go to town soon for some supplies."

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda took the last piece gratefully and bit into it, nodding while she ate about supplies. There was so much she wished to say, but she hoped that her actions spoke loud enough.
"Right then." Draco stood up, "Should we be on our way?"

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen nodded and kicked dust over the coals of the fire to snuff it out. "Yeah..." Owen yawned some and stretched. "Alright then... are we ready to go?" He hedl out his hand to Mira with a kind smile. "By the way, can you cook?"
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda opened her mouth but no words came out and she looked away in frustration before nodding slowly. "...."
"Looks like she can." Draco spread his wings to stretch and then folded them back, making room for both of them to climb on his back.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
"Oh, good!! I can't cook at all, I always end up burning everything... I had to buy that jerky!" He chuckled some and lifted her up. "Grab on to Draco's saddle up there, yeah! That's right! And just pull yourself up! Great! Just like that!"
"She's a natural at dragon climbing, Owen." Draco rumbled softly. "She doesn't pull my scales either."
"Well! It seems Draco approves of you riding him!" Owen backed up a slight then ran forward and jumped, landing on Draco's foreleg, then he jumped off and grabbed hold of the saddle, pulling himself up with expert ease. "Alright then..." Owen seated himself behind Mira and pulled her leg back beside his and tied them together to the saddle, then again on the other side. "You feel secure enough? Draco is an easy ride!"

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda nodded bravely and focused ahead of her as though she had enough confidence for all of them. She seemed really excited and bounced just a little bit, her curls bounced with her and she couldn't stop smiling.
"I suppose we're off then!"
"I suppose we're off then!"
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen reached his arms around her to grab hold of the saddle horn in front of Mira. "Hold on right here, takeoff is always a little rough." He waited until her hands were rested firmly on his own, then Draco took off, his great wings like massive fans, blowing the dust and dirt everywhere.
Re: Actions Speak Louder
If she could have giggled and squealed, Miranda would have! Her mouth was wide open as if she was screaming and giggling, but not a sound came from her lips. Her curls whipped around playfully as they flew through the air and she felt butterflies upon takeoff.
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen managed to catch a glimpse of her face and smiled to himself. She was so happy, and he wished he could hear the screams she was trying to emit. He screamed with her and laughed too, letting go of the saddle for a moment to spread his arms wide.
"You like that?!" Draco's proud voice boomed loudly. "Then you'll love this!!" Draco then proceeded to do flips, and dives, and sharp turns, showing off his flying expertise.
