Miranda was tickled pink, her eyes closed tight and she smiled happily at the feeling of being on air... she loved it. Her smile hadn't been that big in such a long time, it felt magical. Finally, she got the courage to spread her arms and pretend like she was flying.

Owen had never experienced the feeling of a woman's hair in his face until that moment. Actually, he'd never been so close to a woman before. He gently and quietly began to guide Draco to a nearby town as Mira enjoyed her flight. He couldn't see from her hair though, so he closed his eyes, focusing on seeing through Draco's eyes. The colors of the world around him were significantly muted through Draco's eyes, though the red hues from fall leaves and camp fires were bright and loud. They began to veer left as the town in the distance drew closer.

Miranda leaned back against Owen and decided to just enjoy his presence, it hadn't even been a day and she already loved how warm and comforting he was. When they landed, however, a shocking memory stabbed at her and she felt hot tears roll down her cheeks.

Even if she kissed him... her true love was dead and the curse would never be broken.

Owen untied their legs and he slid off Draco's back and landed on his foreleg. He looked up to help Mira down, and that's when he heard a loud sniffle and saw that she was crying. "M-Mira?" He frowned and reached up to grab her an pull her out of the saddle and into his arms. He picked her up then and hopped to the ground before setting her on her feet and wiping her tears away with his thumbs. "I wish I could ask you what's wrong..." He said softly, scanning her expression for any hints... but all that was clear was that she was upset... very upset.

Miranda looked at him pitifully and then sniffled again, her eyes were beginning to turn red and puffy. "...." She wanted to explain everything to him, all that had happened but she couldn't. She could hear herself just a little but he'd never be able to hear her.

Draco rumbled softly and laid down behind them, watching closely with sad eyes.

"Mira..." Owen said her name with a tender smile before wrapping her in a tight hug. "I wish I could help you... but I don't know how." Her loud sniffles made his heart sink. Owen hated to see people cry, but for some reason... it hurt even more to see Mira cry.

Miranda melted immediately, she'd never felt so happy... so comfortable in someone's arms. It felt so right and so lovely.

Owen felt her lean into his hug and he couldn't help but feel a bit happy. Maybe he was actually doing something right for once. He hugged her tighter and rested his chin on the top of her head. "I hope that someday... I'll be able to help you with your problem."

Somehow, Miranda was able to find that hope too... maybe he could, but how? Suddenly they were shaded and Draco was looking at them with a dragon-y smile.

Miranda smiled back.

Owen looked to Draco and smiled back warmly. "Draco is the kindest, and most fearsome dragon in the world, don't you agree? I was blessed to be chosen by him." He ashed softly as Draco's massive neck craned around and he nuzzled them both at the same time.

"Just as I was blessed to have you to choose, Owen. Now, you two need to go get yourselves some food... and I will find myself a heart cow..."

Miranda nodded and soon her smile returned, tears subsiding gradually as they parted ways. The last time she'd been to a town, she'd looked for work but no one had wanted to hire a mute.

As they walked, Owen worked on rounding his ears and softening the features of his face. He didn't want to cause any trouble, so he tried to look as human as possible. "Do I look less Elven, and more human now?" He asked Mira with a pained smile. Rounding his ears was always painful.

Miranda gave a sharp nod and then a thumbs up, her smile was worth a thousand words. She reached up after licking her thumb and rubbed some dirt off of his face, then stood on her toes and smoothed his hair just a little. Her lips moved and mouthed the word "Perfect" before she turned to walk into town with him.

Owen's cheeks reddened and he touched his cheek where she'd cleaned his face. "Th-Thanks..." He rubbed the back of his neck and then cleared his throat. "Anyway," He took her hand gently in his. "We are here for food, and cooking supplies, so just... pull me where you want to go, pick out anything you want... it's all yours."

Miranda nodded, she hadn't gone grocery shopping in a long time! This would be fun so she sped up and tugged him behind her before getting into town. Quietly, she pointed out every thing she wanted and he'd either have to trade or pay for the items she thought they needed.

Her hands were so warm... and yet so small in his own, Owen observed as she drug him from booth to booth. Occasionally she'd stare longingly at some dress shops, but looked away before she thought he'd seen her. He saw it every time though, and she when they were done with the groceries, he pointed to the little shop and smiled. "That's our last stop. Pick yourself out a nice, comfy dress."

Miranda looked like she was in shock at his command, her eyes were wide and she seemed to wonder if there was some sort of catch. Wanting to trust him, though, she wandered to the dress shop and began to feel the different fabrics, taking one and rubbing it against her cheek happily. It was soft... so soft and cool to the touch.

"What are ya doin'?!" A voice called, grabbing her hand and pulling her away. "Ya can't just touch this stuff!"

Miranda stared blankly and said not a word.

"Aren't ya going to apologize?!"

She made an effort to mouth the word to him, only for him to get angrier. "I can't hear you!"

A large hand pried the man's away from Mira, and Owen hovered angrily above her. "What are you doing, touching my wife?" He frowned angrily. "And yelling at a mute woman no less, you're an idiot." Even with a handful of groceries, Owen was menacing. He was standing over Mira even more protectively now, and he shifted the sack he carried. "Your cloths aren't even worth being laid as rags for a dog's bed." He turned and scanned the area. "Hmm... that other shop down the way seems to have some much nicer things."

"That's preposterous!!" The man snapped, "We have the finest dresses and fabrics in all of town, no one can compare!" Suddenly, he wondered why he was arguing with this man and he stepped away with a shrug, dropping his arms at his sides. "I'll give ya a few things at a discount." He didn't want to lose this customer.

Miranda looked around and found something to write on and with. She wrote a note and handed it to Owen.

"I just want the one I cuddled... then we can go somewhere else."

Owen read the note and his expression softened instantly. He nodded to her with a soft smile and picked up the soft dress. It would definitely be pretty on her. "We'll take this one." His expression had immediately changed when he'd turned back to the man. "How much is it? A fair discount for our troubles, I assume?"

"Ah... yes sire. Does... twenty pieces sound like a good price?" The man seemed rather shy suddenly, his booming voice had become a soft whisper.

"What did you say?" Owen frowned angrily. "I can't hear you!!" His silver eyes had turned a bright orange, and his glare was menacing. "Your voice was louder just a moment ago!"

"Sorry, sire! Twenty gold... NO NO! Fifteen! Just... take it and go!" The man obviously didn't want to deal with them anymore and didn't even stay to let them pay for it.

Miranda was stunned.

"Here." Owen handed her the dress with a gentle smile and set his sack of groceries down by his feet so he could count out his coins. It wasn't normally a smart thing to do, but seeing as a crowd had gathered to see his anger... they weren't going to mess with his groceries. "I hope you really like it. Since we've gotten this one so cheap, I can probably get you coat at that other shop since I have so much left over." He counted out fifteen coins and tossed them in the direction the man had left, then he tucked his coin purse away and picked up the sack of groceries.

Miranda looked back one more time before following Owen to the next shop, her arm stung from the man's grip and she rubbed it just a little. It was nothing really, but it bothered here nonetheless. She squeezed Owen's hand to thank him and smiled up at him gratefully.
