Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen returned her smile and he cheeks heated up a bit. He squeezed her hand back in response and they stopped at the next shop. "Don't worry about anything, and find a cloak or something that's warm that you like." She was about to run off when he stopped her. "Hold on, let me hold this for you." He smiled gently and took her new dress, draping it over his shoulder. "Alright, there! Go have fun!"
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda sprinted into the shop and then slowed down, viewing the different cloaks hanging on the wall. A nicer woman came around and smiled when she saw the small girl pointing to one of the pretty, silver-blue, cloaks.
"You want this one?"
Miranda nodded.
"That's twelve pieces."
Miranda nodded once again and then hurried to Owen again where she mouthed "twelve" to the best of her ability.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen turned a bit so she could take the coin purse out of the inside pocket of his cloak. "Alright, go and pay for it... are there any better boots in there for you? Get some of those too... yours are hearing out." He smiled warmly. "I'll wait right out here, so don't worry."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda nodded and ran back inside, nearly tripping over her feet again as she got back in. She paid for her cloak and then had the woman help her find a good pair of boots. Once that was done, she came nearly skipping out because her feet were so happy.
She handed the pouch back to him with money left to spare. 8D

Re: Actions Speak Louder
"Ah! Well, don't you look spoiled!" Owen laughed and tucked the coin purse away, then took her hand protectively again after she'd taken her dress back. She must have really liked the fabric... though he couldn't blame her. They'd really gotten that dress at almost a steal... it was as soft and smooth as silk, but as strong and durable as steel. It wouldn't be tearing anytime soon. "Alright, Draco is probably worrying, so we should get going."
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda still had a skip in her step as she nodded again and followed him out of town, she couldn't wait for Draco to see all the pretty things and the great foods they'd gotten! She hoped that he was eating well or had eaten already.
Just as she was thinking about that, her stomach growled and she reached for an apple, just to tide her over until she could cook lunch.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
"Pickpocket." Owen eyed her a little and snorted. She was really quite cute, and the way she already seemed so comfortable with he and Draco made him smile. He didn't want her to be afraid to help herself to anything of theirs. "Do you already have something in mind for lunch? I have to say, I haven't had a nice, cooked meal in quite some time!"
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda looked up at him with wide eyes and then she reached into the bag, pulling out the meat wrapped in paper and then reached and found some bread. She pressed them together and mouthed "sandwhich".
Re: Actions Speak Louder
"Oh!!" Owen grinned then. "That... sounds amazing. I knew I'd love having you around!" He laughed then and released the spell over his features, as they were no longer in the town. "Ah!! Sweet relief!"
Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda smiled when he did and seemed glad for him to be relieved of his pain, she rubbed his arm after putting the things away and looked to see if she could find Draco's shape in the distance.
Re: Actions Speak Louder
When they reached the clearing they'd landed in, they looked around for a few moments for any sign of Draco. That is... until he landed right behind them, knocking them both over with the tremor he'd created from his great landing! "Oh!" He gasped, his rumbly voice seemed a bit hyper. "Sorry about that!"
"Draco..." Owen moaned. "Did you drink too much blood again? You're hyper..."
"Am not! I only had four cows today! I am quiet plump and content!"

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda's smile indicated that she was trying not to laugh, and never would make a sound even if she tried to laugh.
"What's so funny?" Draco asked, flopping onto the ground as if he was ready for a nap.
She ran up to him and showed off her boots, cloak and the pretty dress as if he'd never seen such lovely things before.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen snorted and worked on preparing a fire with nearby sticks. "I'm getting firewood, watch our lovely guest please, Draco."
"I will, I will! Oh, those are very nice things, yes... you know, the color of your cloak is the same color as my mother." He grinned, a toothy, dragon-y grin. "Hmm, that dress will be beautiful on you. Shall I cover you with my wing so you may wear it?" The massive dragon seemed to be purring loudly.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda gave him a look that said 'If you won't peek" and then moved behind his wing to change into the dress. She removed the old tattered one and threw on the new one carefully, enjoying how lovely it felt against her skin. Once she was done, she danced out to show Draco.
Re: Actions Speak Louder
"Owen will love it, I am certain." Draco winked and then rolled over onto his back, staring at her from upside-down. "Hmm.. you are even pretty at this angle for a two-legged. You look much better in that dress, than in those rags..."
"Oh, really?" A high-pitched voice easily caught the two friends off-guard. "And I thought rags suited you so much better, Mira." A tall, black-haired woman with an evil, mocking smirk strode confidently into the clearing. "Tell me, what are you hoping to gain by staying with a dragon? You think his magic can help you? Dragons don't even know how to use their magic, so don't expect any help there."

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda couldn't even squeak out a reply in defense and simply scooted closer to Draco in fear. She never thought she'd see Elsia again and her body felt numb. What else could possibly be done to her?
"...." She swallowed hard.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Draco rolled over and frowned. "And who might you be? You're interrupting our fun."
"Who am I? A drake such as yourself couldn't possibly know." The witch flipped her hair and glared at Miranda. "What...? Are you actually trying to find love again? Hmm...? Only true love's first kiss can save you, my sweet... and I've already killed your true love. Oh, how sweet a sight unto my eyes to watch as he crumpled to the floor, his blood pooling out before he landed... it was glorious!" The witch's cackle was nothing short of stories, and Draco snorted a puff of smoke at her.
"Do not call me, such... you vile two-legged hag! I am a dragon, not a drake!" He drew in a great breath and released a long stream of fire, engulfing the witch in flames. He waited a moment, then ended the flames, only to be disappointed. There was no carcass... no nothing. His flames weren't nearly hot enough to disintegrate a whole human. "Hmph." He rumbled in disappointment. "She escaped it seems..."

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda stared blankly at the place Elsia once stood and her eyes filled with tears. She remembered back to their days as children... playing together, carefree... what happened? Slowly, she sunk to the ground and stared at the grass beneath her, little ants worked together building a home and gathering food.
They had no hate for each other... only support. Miranda wished she were an ant, some days... she rather admired their courage.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen came running back moments later with a handful of wood. "Draco, Mira!!" He dropped the wood with the res and ran to them. "What happened?! I heard your fire, and I came running!"
"It seems our friend here has some history with a witch..." Draco rumbled. "A rather evil witch... she called me a drake."
"Did she mean male duck, or baby dragon?" Owen frowned.
"I don't know!! Either one is just as horrible!" Draco huffed. "And she had a horrible laugh."
Owen sighed and knelt down in front of Mira, reaching out to brush her hair away from her face. "Are you alright? Did she hurt you?"

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Careful of the ants, Miranda wrote something in the sand. "No, just my heart." Her face, other than the tears on her cheeks, was blank and numb. It was clear that she didn't expect to ever see the witch again. "I should have died." She wrote, "Don't"
She stopped, her hand was shaking and she wrote again, "Want to suffer."

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen frowned and wiped away her words in the sand, then drew her into a big, warm hug. "Don't ever think that! Don't wish death on yourself! If you were dead, Draco and I would have never met you... and we would still be wandering all alone in the desert. You really make us happy... whether you can speak or not doesn't matter at all."
A puff of smoke from Draco engulfed the two of them and he purred. "You can mend a hurt heart, but not a dead soul such as hers. Also, I have once heard there is more than one true love for everyone in the world."

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda leaned into his hug and listened to Draco's wise words, if there was more than one true love... could she ever get her voice back? Even then, wouldn't Elsia come and kill the next one too? What then...
She wrote into the dirt again, "Can't let anyone else get hurt."

Re: Actions Speak Louder
"I don't understand..." Owen frowned a little and Draco puffed again.
"Apparently that witch killed her first true love. I told you she's evil."
OWen nodded and pulled Mira closer, wrapping his arms even tighter around her. "Then we will kill her next time we see her, and it'll all be fine!" He smiled. "No one else will be hurt, and you will be able to find your true love again."

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Miranda nodded slowly but even that seemed painful. Elsia was pure evil and yet she felt terrible for wanting her gone... dead... it didn't matter. They used to be best friends.
"...." She shifted and pointed for Owen to start a fire, she wanted to make food for them.

Re: Actions Speak Louder
Owen nodded slowly and sighed. "Alright..." He let go of her and stood up, walking back to the place he'd dropped all of the sticks. He knelt down and began to arrange them in such a way that the fire would be nice and warm, and last long. He glanced back at Mira, who was still huddled beside Draco and sighed to himself after looking back to his task at hand. She didn't seem to want his comfort at all at that time. She had seemed fairly receptive before, but then she suddenly wanted him to go over here. He pulled out some flint and began trying to make the fire, wondering what he might have said to upset her.
"Do not fret, youngling." Draco purred softly and pulled her close to him with his wing. "You are in good hands here... and you are deeply cared for. You will not face her alone... and she will not take loved ones from you again."
