"If we can find the pendant I'm looking for, it hold energy in it, and you can learn to use that over your own energy, so you don't hurt yourself." I said softly. "Practice moving the button and moving it around more each and every day. Then you'll get better, and it will start taking less and less energy to do things."

I was taking in everything that he said, I felt a little bit sad that because of me taking so long to learn this he was stuck as a cat. Through out the rest of the day I kept trying and trying, I wanted to get this down so I could help him.

She was getting better and better, and it even flew out of her hand at one point and hit Marcus in the back of the head. He didn't believe me when I said it wasn't me. I wasn't sure why, but I couldn't use any magic as a cat. It was frustrating, but also kind of fun to train Riona. We would tie the horses to trees at night, and everyone would lay on blankets... I laid on Riona. The first night, I wasn't sure if she did want me sleeping with her, but then she got scared because I wasn't there. So since then, I've been sleeping on her chest at night, and helping her with magic during the day, and at lunch, she would practice setting a fire for us.

The more I did it the easier it became and I just practiced on anything. Eventually we came into a town and I tried not to talk to Julius as much but he'd slowly become my best friend.

"We should get married here." I heard Gill say to Viann.

"Is it really a good time?"

"Why wouldn't it be?"

"It's such a cute and quaint little town! A wedding here would be wonderful!" Adelle grinned. "Oh, Viann! This place is perfect!"

Marcus was looking around with a blank expression, probably wondering how quaint could be a good term for a wedding.

Viann seemed a little nervous, "A quiet wedding might be nice..." Gill snatched her hands into his and kissed them excitedly, I could see his smile.

"We've waited a couple hundred years... I think that's long enough."

Marcus looked at them and smiled. "Yes, I'm tired of listening to wedding plans. Hurry up and get it over with."

Adelle frowned at him. "Get used to it! You'll have to hear our wedding plans at some point too, you know!"

I just laughed in Riona's arms. "They're strange."

"Mhm." I kept playing with his tail but he hadn't noticed yet... note, I said yet.

"It's not like we spent two hundred years thinking of how we were going to get married anyway... we never did talk about the same thing each day." Viann said, "Most of the time it was silent.

"... I guess." Gill shrugged. "Either way... let's tie the knot!" He nudged Viann playfully. "This afternoon!"

I turned and gave Riona a look. "Is my tail that fun to play with?" I asked with a laugh, and tugged it away playfully. I decided to ignore the wedding plans. They were boring.

"S-Sorry, I can't really control what my hands do and I just now noticed..." My fingers constantly moved, it was strange but part of it was because of my 'illness' is what people called it, or my old doctor would say. "I'll stop... I wish I had a toy sometimes."

I used to have plenty of wooden toys to play with.

I flipped my tail at her hand. "You can keep playing with my tail... I really don't mind." I said with a smile. "It actually feels good sometimes..."

"I'm g-gentle enough..." I was glad he didn't mind, I was trying not to get on his nerves. He always stayed by my side and I was growing attached to him. "When you are human... can we still ride the same horse?"

"It would not only make me feel happy but it would make me feel a lot safer..." I felt my face going red and tried not to giggle, I was forming strange feelings... over Julius. It wasn't fair.

I stood with Gill talking about wedding things when people began to run and scream, I couldn't tell what was going on through all the ruckus but I suddenly heard a lot of shots. Gill grabbed my arm and I only saw his mouth moving, the fire in his eyes was back and the concern showed in his brow.

I looked back to see if I could spot Riona and Julius, what I saw horrified me. I witnessed a girl on a horse being shot and falling, I only saw the back of her head but... it looked like Riona. "WAIT!" I screamed.

"We'll find them, Viann! Just follow me!"

I hadn't seen anything like this since the war. I heard banging and I wasn't sure what it was, I'd never heard that... we only used swords and arrows before. I felt a stab in my arm and the back of my leg, I started to fall but Gill grabbed me up and ran with me.

"R-Riona..."

"I know."

So he saw it too. Riona... was she dead? Who was with her besides Julius? "I want to go back!"

"You're bleeding!" Gill was busy dodging shots, he was fast but not fast enough. A hole appeared in his shoulder and suddenly he was drenched in blood. "DANGIT!" He snapped. "What is this?!"

Bangs kept going off everywhere like small explosions and I heard Riona screaming something about gumshots. I wasn't sure what a gumshot was, but sice people were dying all around us, I didn't find it to be a very good thing. She was panicking though... and a lot. I grabbed the reigns and put them in her hands. A gumshot sliced the rope tying our horse to Adelle. Which made me wonder where everyone else was. I couldn't see them anywhere. "Riona, snap the reigns up and down and kick the horse with your foot, then pull to the left!"

I couldn't stop shaking but I had to do what Julius said. All the screams and bangs were magnified, I couldn't keep myself focused enough to find out if I was going to hit anyone when I moved the horse. I snapped the reigns like he shouted for me to do and then I kicked the sides. She took off instantly and I panicked and bent down, wrapping my arms around her neck. I was so scared, I felt like my head was going to explode! I managed to get myself upright though, feeling haphazardly for the reigns again. So much screaming, so much... it took all I had in me not to scream too.

"Where am I going?! I can't see!" I was crying, everything was black and I couldn't even make out the figures of spirit around me anymore.

"Pull right slightly." I began directing her, dodging trees, jumping streams... the works. I had now become her eyes, but she was trusting me... that made all of the difference. "Now pull left!"

I still heard bangs but the screams were becoming more distant. I did as I was told and pulled left, at least I hoped it was left but we didn't crash so I sighed in relief. "Are they with is?" I asked, I was scared to speak too loud. Since the bangs still seemed close I wasn't sure if we were out of danger.

"The others?" I shook my head. "No, we lots them when the shots started." I said. "Keep the reigns just like that." I said. "We're headed toward my amulet. We'll be there within a few days."

"Bu... But everyone..." I was so scared for them, why would we just leave them behind. "Julius, why would you want to leave your... b-brothers?" I asked sadly. "I don't understand!"

"To protect you! I couldn't see them and we were of no use to them standing around where we could be killed! They'll be fine. They're high ranking knights." The last part I said mostly to calm myself down. I didn't want to leave them, but I didn't want to leave Riona where she could get hurt. I wanted to protect her.

I wanted to look back and see them coming but I couldn't, I had to keep moving on like Julius told me to. "You still sound afraid... I hear it in your voice."

"Because they're my brothers... and Adelle and Viann will be my sisters one day. I'm scared forthem, but once I get out of this cat form, I can find them. I just... I just need to get there first."
