Re: The Distance Between Us
"It was tough... Krys was confused after a while when the behaviors started changing... I vaguely remember an argument but nothing else." Jack frowned.
Re: The Distance Between Us
Oh, I see... Camille wrote, frowning. Uli hadn't been good to them then. She didn't know how to love Camille's family, or act like Camille. Uli was nothing more than a petty copycat. She would find the attachment and destroy it, just as Uli had destroyed her life.
Well, I'm terribly sorry for your loss... but I'll be here if you need someone to talk to. Talking to a grave is very lonely since they don't usually talk back...

Re: The Distance Between Us
Jack sort of chuckled, "Well I'll be here too, I'll try not to lose my temper... I didn't used to have one. I'm feeling very tired lately."
Re: The Distance Between Us
She smiled sadly again. She had trouble smiling normally to him, because it hurt her to know he couldn't even look at her normally. He liked what he saw way too much. She didn't like how he looked right through her, to see Uli.
You've been through a lot recently. I can imagine you'd have a temper. Just... please don't hate me. I don't have anything left. Krys was all I had, and now I have you... but I don't know anyone else if I have to leave. I don't have anywhere to go.

Re: The Distance Between Us
Jack frowned sadly, "You don't have to go anywhere... Krys was all I had too and I think we might need each other. She's our connection." His words couldn't be more true.
Re: The Distance Between Us
Camille sighed sadly, unsure what to say. She wanted to tell him everything. She wanted to explain everything to him. But she couldn't. She couldn't say a word.
I love you, Jack. She thought sadly to herself. She loved him so much.
She wrote again.
Thank you. You're a very nice person. Also, the soup smells really good. I can't really convey it that well in words... but my mouth is watering.

Re: The Distance Between Us
"You're conveying yourself just fine... you talk so eloquently even in writing." Jack smiled fondly. He gave her a bowl and then made himself one so they could both eat together.
Re: The Distance Between Us
She smiled a little.
Thank you again. I was taught to speak well from early childhood. I never lost it I suppose.
Camille grabbed her bowl and pulled it close. This soup he made... it had always been a favorite of hers. She'd eaten it almost every day while she was pregnant with Krys. And she'd made Jack so mad sometimes because he had gotten tired of it, and she always would insist that he make it at least for her, and he could eat something else. She smiled to herself, bigger this time, and if she had a voice, a giggle would escape her.

Re: The Distance Between Us
Krys hopped up and down and wished she could take in the scent of the soup that was before her. "I can hear you giggling... I'm going to go explore while you eat."
Jack grinned, "I like that you're smiling... it's better than the tears that you had a few minutes ago. So you did visit Krys' grave this morning?" He had only assumed that would be why she was crying.

Re: The Distance Between Us
She sighed a little bit and the smile quickly vanished. She pushed her half eaten bowl of soup away and pulled the notepad back. She thought a minute, trying to decide what to write.
Yes. I spoke to her grave, but received no reply. I cried for a long time. The only purpose of the visit seemed to be to make me cry again. So I left and came back here.
Everything she had written was a lie. She glanced away and to where Krys was disappearing off to, and then back to Jack. She hated to lie to him, but she couldn't tell him that the ghost of his daughter had spoken to her.

Re: The Distance Between Us
Jack seemed almost disappointed and he pushed it back, "I'm sorry... I'm still not sure how to get closure myself, it doesn't feel right to empty her room. Maybe one day... you can use it for now though, sleep in the bed though. I've changed the sheets and blankets for you." He finished eating and went to wash the bowl, "What do you like to do, Milly?"
Re: The Distance Between Us
She nodded slowly and then for a moment, she began to think. She wasn't sure what to say. She liked to kiss her husband, and raise her child, and she liked to work magic... and sing. She had loved to sing.
Well, She wrote slowly, I once sang all the time. I loved to sing. But... now I can't sing. I have been silenced. She frowned sadly. Everything I once loved to do, I can no longer do... for various reasons. She turned the notebook so he could read it.

Re: The Distance Between Us
"Cam..." He sighed after he read it, "Ca..." He began to cough harshly and caught the taste of blood in his mouth, his memory went blank for a moment and his vision blacked out. "W...Wow..." Jack rushed to get some water after his vision returned. "S-Sorry, that was strange... ahg..."
Re: The Distance Between Us
She frowned worriedly. The spell hurt him for trying to remember her name? She bit her lip anxiously and then hurriedly wrote, glancing over her shoulder. You almost said my name and the curse prevented you from saying it. If I tell you more, you will be in danger. I'm sorry. I didn't know that would happen.
Re: The Distance Between Us
"Curse..." Jack cleared his throat and winced, "Is that why you're mute... that's really sad. We can fix this I bet, take... it a day at a time." He cleared his throat.
Re: The Distance Between Us
She didn't want to wait, but she nodded her understanding. She was biding her time until she discovered the source of Uli's attachment. Once she discovered it, she would definitely destroy it.
Re: The Distance Between Us
The next morning, Jack wandered off to work again after sharing some breakfast with Camille. Krys used this as her chance to run around the house and look through things she could get through with ease, something that didn't feel right. She knew she'd help find it!
Re: The Distance Between Us
Maybe... it's a ring or something of hers that he kept. He kept your hair, he must have kept something of hers as well. Maybe a wedding band? She stole mine... but wouldn't it become hers then? Could she have attached to it? Or... maybe a necklace he gave her. Jack loves to gift jewelry. Camille hurriedly searched through Jack's room, looking for anything feminine. Anything that wasn't his.
Re: The Distance Between Us
"Um... Earrings! She looooved earrings, it really confused Daddy! I think I know where to find some!" Krys pointed to a drawer that looked like it hadn't been opened in a long time. "Try here!"
Re: The Distance Between Us
Earrings? Camille frowned and followed Krys. But my ears weren't pierced! Oh... Jack. You should have remembered that at least! She sighed and opened the drawer, beginning to rummage through different things. I loved bracelets and anklets. Augh. It seems like she got rid of all of my jewelry. She sighed. It was really expensive too...
Re: The Distance Between Us
"Did you find anything, Mommy?" Krys asked as she observed her mother's search. She had some questions even though she knew many things but there was so much she wanted to know. "Mommy... ah..." She decided to wait until she was done before asking.
Re: The Distance Between Us
Finally, Camille found something that wasn't her own. It was a single black hoop earring. She frowned a bit and then turned to Krys. What is it? She asked kindly. Is something wrong?
Re: The Distance Between Us
Krys seemed uncertain, more than she had been previously, "A-After all of this will I be able to come back to you and Daddy too?" She asked, eyes wide with curiosity but then there was a hint of fear.
Re: The Distance Between Us
Camille sighed some. I will try my best to make sure you come back. You have to really want it... but I think I can do it. It's been done before, but only in dire circumstances. She held out the earring to Krys. Do you think this is it? Does it feel wrong? Camille couldn't tell since her magic was gone.
Re: The Distance Between Us
Krys' eyes seemed really sad but she smiled anyway, "Ah... it's got a dark aura to it, that has to be the attachment." She kept her voice at it's normal pitch so her mother wouldn't worry. "I'm sure."
