I couldn't believe it, and was really starting to freak out. "R-Rhema?!" I picked her up in my arms, holding her close to me, as if it might keep her from leaving me in a way I didn't want her to leave. I stood, holding her and ran inside. "Mister Embers?! Mrs Embers?! P-Please help me!" I was shaking and holding my dear love close. "Help!!" I screamed.

-Three Hours Later-

*Narrative*

The doctor came into the waiting room with a chart under his arm and an expression that no one could really read. It had felt like eternity waiting to find out if Rhema was going to be okay.

I gulped and wrung my hands together nervously, then ran them through my hair,messing up the fauxhawk I had going on. If she's not okay, I think I'll die.

The doctor stopped in front of them and smiled, "Mr. and Mrs. Embers, your daughter is stable now but she's not really breathing on her own. We have her on oxygen for now..."

"But what's wrong with her?" Her father asked.

"She has a heart defect, there's no telling how long it's been this bad. So while we wait for a donor for a heart transplant... we'll give her a pace maker and a portable oxygen tank for when she goes home."

I bit my lip. "I-Is she awake?" I was planning on being the last to see her, but I wanted to know if I had a chance of seeing her awake.

"She's in and out of consciousness right now. We've admitted her already so she can have more than one visitor." The doctor said.

I nodded and looked to her parents. "Y-You two can go first and spend some time alone with her. I'm sure she'd like that." I smiled to reinforce me decision. I could wait for forever for her.

"No, she would probably ask for you." Her mother said and then exchanged a quick glance with her father, "We'll spend the night here so you can go see her first."

"Y-You're sure?" I asked, watching them closely.

"Yeah, just stay with her until you're sure she's asleep and then you can go home. Come see her whenever you like." Mrs. Embers walked over to him and hugged him, "You're such an amazing boy, thank you for coming into Rhema's life."

I hugged her back. "Thank you for allowing me. I don't know where I'd be without her." I stood up after that and ran to the room number the doctor told us. When I found it, I opened it slowly. "Rhema...?"

*Rhema*

I could hear Kyle's voice and opened my eyes so I could see him, everything was still really fuzzy but it was clearing up slowly and surely.

"Kyle..." I replied, my voice was just barely above a whisper and it was very hoarse. I could hear the hum of the machines and then something pumping oxygen into my lungs.

"Yeah, it's me... I-I'm sorry. I should have taken you to your parents sooner... b-before you passed out." I felt really bad, and had been beating myself up about it the whole time.

I frowned a little, "I shoulda.... told you sooner." I replied quietly as I took his hand shakily, "It hurt all day."

"Ah- I-It did?" I gulped. "I'm sorry that I didn't notice... I'll pay much more attention to you from now on! I promise!"

"Ju- Just don't ask if I'm okay every five seconds.... I'll tell you." I closed my eyes again, I was so tired. The next morning I was scheduled for surgery to put a pace maker in.

After that we had to start praying for a donor.

I squeezed her hand and leaned over, kissing her lips softly. "Okay, deal." After that first kiss, kissing and hugging her had become very addictive. She was an addictive person.

"Guess what, Kyle..." I began while trying to stay awake that same hour. I had something I wanted to tell him.

"Hmm? What?" I asked, sitting next to her in a chair I had dragged beside the bed.

I grinned, "I'm going to graduate high school and then we're going to get married one day and have children... six of them." I squeezed his hand.

I laughed... happily though, not to make fun of her at all. "Whatever you want, I want too." I grinned back. "I definitely am going to spend the rest of my life with you."

"That definitely gives me a lot to live for." I replied happily. I was beginning to fall asleep though.

I kissed him back and smiled, "Love you too..." But then I fell asleep, hopefully the day after tomorrow... or soon, I would be awake again.
