"Can I bring it to you within an hour? I have nothing on hand except my cane..." Amoneha knew it would take forever for her to get back upstairs without it... and it was a gift from Adder.

The man nodded slowly. "Do not forget me then, or you will find yourself without any future help. Go now, and leave me to sleep." The elderly man leaned against the wall and closed his blind eyes to drift off into a light slumber.

Kynen turned to Amon and smiled. "I hope that helped, but beyond Oryn... I'm next to useless." He shrugged a bit. "What are you going to bring him?"

"Food, I'll return shortly..." Amoneha stopped, "Can... you take me to see Adder when I return?"

Kynen nodded with a gentle smile. "Of course. You know the way back to the door from here? I need to check on some things first." Kynen wasn't lying, or really hiding anything from her, but he wanted to make certain Adder looked as best as possible for when she saw him. Kynen had seen people labeled as traitors brought in before, and they were usually beaten badly even before torture and interrogation had begun.

"Yes... thank you, I'll return after a bit." Amoneha left to go get the food, the stair climbing was rather intimidating but she had to pay the man somehow.

Kynen watched her leave, then went to check on Adder. The man was almost unrecognizable. His face was badly beaten, and he had been cut in several places. The cuts were roughly bandaged and had Kynen not known better, he would have thought he was at the wrong cell. He unlocked the cell door and stepped inside, shutting the door behind himself. He approached Adder, who sat limp in the chair he had been tied to. "Adder?" Kynen called softly, pressing his fingers to Adder's neck in search for life. "You awake?"

"Hmm...nhmnnhm." He groaned, obviously in pain.

"I'm Kynen, Amon's brother... I'm here to help you. I can't let you out, but I can help with the pain some." He used the bucket of water beside the chair that had likely been used to half-heartedly clean his wounds, and tried to clean him up a bit better using Kynen's own handkerchief. "You don't look so good... I'm not certain I can pretty you up very well for Amon."

"A...mun...?"

"Yeah, she's coming to see you."

"Nuh..." Adder shook his head softly. "Dan...gwer..."

"I know, but you also know she isn't going to listen." Kynen replied. "She's trying to fix this for you."

"Nuh... she... get hut. Dan.. gwer." Adder repeated. "She... stupid."

"I know, but don't worry about her... she can take care of herself. You just need to focus on staying alive."

Amoneha finally returned to the dungeon with the pie for Oryn, "Please enjoy... thank you for your help." She turned away and looked for Kynen, not going very far because she didn't want to get lost. "Kynen...?" She whispered.

Kynen walked out of the cell when he heard Amoneha calling for him. He walked a pretty good ways before finding her. He took her hand and tugged her toward Adder's cell. "I'm not gonna lie... he looks pretty bad... but he's still alive. His tongue is swollen though, so he has a bit of trouble speaking... are you certain you still want to see him?" The only reply Kynen received from Amon was a curt nod. He sighed heavily and nodded some too. "Alright then..." They finally stopped at Adder's cell and Kynen opened the door for her. He was certain she hadn't prepared herself well enough.

Adder lifted his head and peered at her through a swollen eye. "You... shoudn be hurr." He croaked. "Dan... gwer." His breaths were short and labored, he was fighting just to stay conscious for her. "Tol... him not... to let... Don'... listen..."

"I wanted to see you..." Amoneha's eyes were threatening to spill tears. She staggered towards him and gently touched his hair, "Please hang in there... I'm going to murder the wizard myself... wait for me." She couldn't stop herself from crying, her chest felt tight and she couldn't swallow past the lump in her throat. "Wait for me, okay? I'll be back..."

Adder tried to offer her a smile, but it looked pretty bad with the busted lip he sported. "I... wait...ever." He gulped a bit and looked down to her ankle. "How...? Do... it hurt? B-Be care...ful."

"I'm fine, don't worry about me... just hang in there for a little while, I'm going to find and kill that wizard... it won't be too hard." Amoneha wiped her tears away with her arm and then stood up straight, "Watch out for him, Kynen... I need to go for now." She was reluctant to leave but she had to.

Adder watched her go and gulped a bit. She was so beautiful, and he didn't want her to go. When she was with him, he had forgotten all of the pain he was in... he wanted her to come back and stay... but he couldn't keep her there with him. She'd be in danger, and he couldn't put her in that place. The cell door shut and he heard the lock click into place as Kynen had followed Amon out.

Kynen took his sister's hand and tried to offer a comforting smile. "I'll do what I can to help Adder... are you alright?"

Amoneha was never one to cry in front of anybody, she couldn't let her reputation be ruined by becoming vulnerable. "I'm fine." She said stiffly, her eyes were a little red and puffy and her lips pursed together, she was trying not to show her emotions but it was failing. "I'll come again at sunrise... tonight I'm interrogating the guards."

Kynen sighed and nodded some. "Alright, well..." He gave her a warm hug when they reached the stairs, and he kissed her cheek. "Take care. I'll make sure Adder stays safe."

"I will... you too and thank you so much." Amoneha hugged him gently and then wandered back up the stairs until she came to her quarters. In her washroom, she sobbed for a while and then washed her face and made sure she didn't look terrible when it was time to interrogate the guards.

This was going to take some time.

Kynen leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes a bit. His stomach was growling, but it wasn't yet tome for him to be able to get something to eat. That wouldn't be for another few hours. He opened his eyes again minutes later when he heard the dungeon's door creak open again. Who was it this time?

Rina, the epitome of sunshine, walked down the stairs with a basket on her arm, grinning wide when she saw Kynen in his usual place with nothing to do but be a guard. "Kynen!" She called cheerfully.

Kynen stood up quickly, his cheeks flushing pink. "R-Rina! H-Hey... no one saw you come in here... did they?" Rina was the single most cheerful person he knew... and stubborn as well. He had told her many times that she shouldn't come to the dungeon... but she always did. She would bring him food every time she had... well, time. "Here... you can sit in that chair." He pulled the chair away from the wall and smiled awkwardly.

Rina sat down and took a cover off the basket, "No one saw me! It's always quiet here recently." She handed him the most beautiful of apples and then picked up one for herself, "I also brought some cheese for you... I thought you'd enjoy that!"

Kynen nodded with a smile and sat on the floor, taking a bite of the delicious-looking apple. "That sounds amazing. Thank you so much for bringing me dinner! I don't stay hingry all the time anymore because of you!" He grinned. Cheese was his favorite.

"You're welcome, I couldn't imagine you sitting down here without food all the time. Besides, I love to visit!" Rina bounced just a little when she talked, "How are you?"

"Ah... I could be better. The king has gone a bit crazy and arrested my superior for treason..." He smiled again. "My day always gets better though when you bring me food! I don't always get time to eat. How are you? I can see you got a new dress." He commented. "It looks great on you."

Rina blushed, "Oh... that's so sad and I'm doing well... yes, this is new and thank you." She always blushed when he noticed things about her, it made her day when that happened. "I'm so sorry that all happened."

Kynen shrugged a bit. "It's in the process of being worked on. Oh, is apple season almost over? I haven't been outside in what feels like months. I'm the gaurd and I'm more of a prisoner than these guys. What will you bring me when the apples stop coming?"
