I laughed. "Very true!" I stared ahead. We were almost to the house. "Just so you know, Amanda, Mom and Dad know about the engagement. Other than that, everyone's in the dark."

"Okay so we don't need to give them chocolates?" I asked making a mental list.

"No... but I think they'd appreciate the thought." I suggested. "Those three are the most sentimental..."

"Oh okay! Then chocolates it is!" I added them to the list in my brain as we were approaching the house. My heart was pounding as I glanced at my ring and turned it over so the little sparkly on top didn't attract attention.

Dad was grinning and I put my finger to my lips and he nodded, though he was still grinning like, well... Dad!

"I'm so lucky I didn't take you out to eat..." I said to Keely. I loved chicken and dumplings!

"I really wanted to eat here!" I said to him, I loved eating with his family, it always felt like a constant celebration when I came to his house.

"Oh, well then, that's great!" I flopped on the couch and patted the open spot next to me.

I flopped down next to him and then laid my head on his lap, all the baby toys except stuff in the corner had pretty much disappeared from the den since Ian and Andy moved out with their little Sean Casey, that adorable little bundle! <3 Pictures of him had been added to the family wall.

My face would be up there eventually too! <3

"Huh? Oh. I was just thinking about the family wall." I glanced at the wall with all the pictures on it. I hoped the look I gave him told him what I was thinking, about being up there too.

I sighed, still smiling. "Then why don't we go to my room instead?" I asked warmly. "We can shut the door and no one will bother us."

I felt bad looking at wedding dresses a couple months later, I had Katie, Andy and Amanda with me and I couldn't stop looking at Katie and wondering how she must feel.

I felt so bad.

I frowned and shook my head. "Nah... I don't like that one on you, Keely..." I said softly. "It doesn't seem to suit you!" I was actually having a fun time with the dress! But Keely seemed to keep glancing at me. I hoped I wasn't making her feel awkward...

"It's kind of hard to pick things..." I said sadly. "I just look weird and I can't wear heels or anything that will compliment it, I have to wear flats..."

"Flats aren't so bad!" Amanda said happily, "You'll look gorgeous either way!"

I frowned, "I guess... this would look pretty on Katie!" I changed the subject and pulled out a long silky number that was beaded at the waist and flowed down the side in an A shape.

I nodded. "It's cute! But I agree with Amanda, flats would look great! Besides, your hem will be long enough that no one will see your feet!" I tried switching the topic off of me. If she got them started, I'd be forced into dresses too... before I even had a ring.

"Ohhh!" Andy's eyes were sparkling. "Katie, that is beautiful!!"

I felt bad again.

Why did I do that?

I put it back and shuffled off with a red face trying to find something for myself, it was all so expensive to me and my parents wanted me to go by their budget.

This wasn't prom though, this was my wedding, my big day out of my whole life... it meant something to me.

I pulled a beautiful strapless, lacy gown out of a pile and held it up. "Do you like this one?" I asked sweetly. "I think it's beautiful!!"

I turned to face them and knew I had a winner but my heart snapped, "What if it's not within the budget...?" I muttered to myself more than them. I looked at it and decided not to try it on until I really knew.

"I wonder if my parents would be different about this if I was nineteen or twenty..."
