I wanted to tell him not to make such a huge promise but I was never the type to get my hopes up so it wasn't as if I expected him to fulfill it. Everyone said they'd work hard to make sure I got a new heart.

But who knows where I was even on the waiting list.

"Thank you... back to looking though. I think I'll go to school for literature and if that doesn't work and when I'm better I can change my major."

"Okay, so... i know this isn't the prettiest place, but I couldn't get you to do anything except look at magazines, so I guess I'll have to make his work. I shoved my hand in my pocket, nervous around her for the first time. "See, I need to ask you something important. Something that will lock in on of your future destinations..."

I pulled a shiny ring out of my pocket with a nervous grin. "Will you marry me?"

I could only stare at the ring in shock and hope that I didn't stop breathing. I couldn't even believe this was happening to me.

"Kyle..." I stammered, "Kyle!" I was beginning to laugh and cry all at the same time.

"I don't know what to say except yes! But... I feel so... numb!" I was shaking and then I held out my hand for him, I wanted to jump down and hug him.

This had to be the most amazing day of my life.

"And how could I not?" I was so excited and in the clouds that even wedding planning sounded like a lot of fun! I was already thinking of my colors and the cake and what shoes I would wear with my gown!

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" Jamie shouted when I arrived at school on Monday.

"No joke!"

"Let... let me see that ring! I want to see!"

I held out my hand, making my ring finger prominent so she could see it better. It was such a beautiful little ring. <3

"Oh my gosh, you're getting married!!!"

And so that's what I told Kyle at lunch. >.<

I laughed. Yeah, my friends are bummed now. They were upset because I was the only one with a girlfriend, but now I'm getting married. They're all just bad with girls. Especially Ronald... he's just so... Ronald."

I grinned though. "So, she approved of the ring...?"

"So... we need to talk to my parents."

I paled at that one though. "Ah... yeah. Have you told them yet?I tried to talk to your dad about it but he kept changing the subject, then had to go to work so I never got to really ask for permission..."

"Are you really sure? Because sometimes I swear he takes exception to try and aggravate me more than I think he'd do to his son." I laughed, making a joke out of it. He really did seem to find humor in aggravating me.

"If you say so... I'll believe it." I said before pulling her towards me ever so gently to wrap my arms around her and hold her close. I couldn't wait until she got a new heart. Then, I'd be able to treat her a little more roughly. But until then, I'd be treating her like my precious porcelain doll. "My beautiful princess whom I love... is right here in my arms. This makes me happy."
