I squealed when he dragged me out. "W-Where are we going next?" I asked when we were out of the inn.

SHE DIDN'T NOTICE.

I looked around and spotted an outdoor restaurant... but then I wondered if it would be bad to give the princess commoners food so I decided against that and looked around some more.

"I'm not sure..."

"And... Zephyr... were you referring to me in there?" I asked softly. "Because I don't think they were convinced..."

"It doesn't matter if they are convinced or not really, I just didn't want them to be... looking at you for too long, we should head back now!" I was talking faster and faster.

"Huh?" I looked at him with a small frown. "S-So soon? B-But..." I looked around. Save for a few shops, I'd seen everything. I wanted to stay out of the castle, though! I didn't like the castle compared to this!

I took her to a quiet place and got on my knees, "Listen... if anything happens to you you'll probably never see me again..." I explained quietly, "I care about you and I don't want anything to happen to you and that means you mean MORE to me than I mean to myself."

I stared at him for a long time before finally giving in. I sighed and slumped a bit, staring at his hands holding mine. "Okay... take me back." I said softly. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine, I want to take you on adventures!" I really did but I couldn't say much more than that, there wasn't much I could do in this state. I took her back to the castle and straight to the garden.

I sat on one of the benches and made room for Zephyr. "That trip made me want to get out of this place even more than I did before." I sighed. "But I can't leave for good. There aren't any other heirs besides me. I shouldn't have gone... even though I loved it."

"Yeah. Well... when you rule you can go out more often maybe?" I suggested, I wished I could take her on a trip, I shouldn't have been wishing that.

"Yeah..." I said softly. "But I don't want to wait the long." I rested my head on his shoulder as I often did when my spirits were down. He was my comforter. Never once did he ever treat me like I was incapable of something, or stupid or anything. Zephyr let me be myself, unlike the other guards I'd had before him. "Zephyr... I think I'm going to cry." I sniffed. I could feel my eyes begin to tear up.

She always let me hold her when she was going to cry and she let me know when she was going to cry normally, this was one of those moments. I held her tightly, it was how I got the tears to go away... it didn't always work but sometimes it was the only thing that helped.

"Hey, don't let your chin quiver or let a tear fall..." I knew a song that she grew up hearing, something her grandmother sang to her before she passed away. I couldn't sing, but I often said the lyrics like a poem for her.

Sometimes... she was growing up.

I held onto him tight and tried to keep the tears away. I hated to cry, but Zephyr never seemed to mind. But he was making my feel better already, and the lump in my throat was beginning to go away. "I don't want to be a princess. Not if I can't leave the castle."

It was that classic line. I couldn't do anything to make her feel better about her life, even sneaking her out wasn't helping because I was too worried I'd get taken away from her and I was probably the only thing keeping her sane right now.

I looked up at him sadly. "Why do you always have to bring in the good things and spoil my pity party, Zephyr?" I asked, a smile coming back to my face.

"Because I want you to be happy..." I really did, that pink, fussy thing was the only person who made me happy, I hoped I could make her just as happy.

Even if I wanted to toss her into the garden sometimes.

"I don't know, we could harass the still-standing guards... they like having things thrown at them." I was a bad princess guard sometimes, I shouldn't encourage her to harass them. >.> But who doesn't?

I giggled. "W-Why don't we make them somethin nice instead. I always watch them get yelled at and have things thrown at them! And so... we can make them cupcakes! It's their favorite! They told me one time because I kept asking because they wouldn't answer. That was while you were sick that one time and the other guy was watching me... and kept losing me."

"I'm not a very good cook though... sad to say..." I wasn't at all, I always had to go out to eat if I wanted food because I was positive my own cooking would probably kill me.

"I know, that's how you got sick in the first place, wasn't it?" I smiled and sat up. "It's okay, you can keep me company while I make cupcakes! And maybe I'll make some to send home with you tonight!" 8D

"That I can do without fail." I replied with a sigh of relief, I was glad she wasn't having me help make the cupcakes, I didn't want to get anyone sick. *___*

I nodded. "You can! You always keep me company. I never feel quite so lonely when you're around..." I said softly. "What's your favorite cake flavor? I want to make yummy cupcakes for you to thank you for today!!"

"Chocolate." I replied leaning down so I could see her face better. She was my best friend... it hit me after a while that she wasn't my charge anymore. Not like it was when I met and I was more serious back then than now.

"Ohhhh yum!" I laughed. "I never pictured you as the chocolate type!" I said, grabbing his hand and tugging at him to head towards the kitchen. "I mean, you seem more serious than chocolate!"
