Re: And he doesn't even know...
"I know..." I said, trying to stop crying. "I just... I'm really confused right now." The truck driver felt really bad. He even followed the ambulance to the hospital and had left to get me dinner. I don't know how I was able to look at him, but I was. It's not like he meant to kill them. He just made a stupid mistake, and we both were paying for it.

"I know, it's going to be okay. I know it'll take time but it's going to be alright. I'm coming." I was feeling upset, knowing I was close with her parents too but this... this was breaking her heart.
Soon enough it was quiet and I kept the phone to my ear so I could be there if she woke up.

Re: And he doesn't even know...
My phone dropped the signal before I woke up. Actually, I didn't wake up until I heard the sound of footsteps in front of my face. I opened my eyes slowly. I wasn't sure how long it had been, but the nurses had left me where I was and put a blanket over me and a pillow under my head. They must have felt bad for me. "Will...?" I whispered, craning my neck upward to see the person standing over me.
Re: And he doesn't even know...
I ended up losing signal with her after a bit so I didn't keep it on the whole time. Eventually I got to the hospital and searched out Sam.
With her being asleep it would take some time. Eventually I found her and was standing right over her.

I picked her up and held her in my arms, trying to take in everything that was happening and work out a plan as well as to how I could take care of her for a while.
"It's me. Let's get going, you need a good place to sleep." I picked her up, I didn't want to make her walk.

I wrapped my arms around him neck. I didn't have anymore tears left to cry, and my face was a testament to that. It was all red and puffy. "Thank you for coming." I said, hugging him softly. I was too tired to hug him big.
Re: And he doesn't even know...
I said your welcome and then after buckling her in I drove to her parents house, using my old spare key to get in without an issue.
It didn't take long for me to get her tucked in and by then I was exhausted myself.

Mom and Dad's house. It was so quiet without mom cooking yummy food. Or dad screaming at the football game on the tv. I curled up, feeling safe despite myself because of Will. He came all this way just for me. I stared at the door before I eventually drifted into a deep sleep.
Re: And he doesn't even know...
I ended up crashed on the couch in the living room after getting a glass of water and trying to take in the events of last night. I felt like my feet were still against the gas peddles and my hands were still clutching the wheel.
The white and yellow road lines were still in my mind.

Re: And he doesn't even know...
Morning breaks another day. I slowly opened my eyes to my alarm clock ringing in my ear. I smiled, hoping it was just another bad dream, until I didn't smell my mother's breakfast. No, they were really gone. It wasn't just a dream.
I sighed, still numb from yesterday. Or was it the day before? I wasn't sure anymore. I rolled out of the bed and trudged into the living room, finding Will on the couch. I wasn't sure what to do, so I just sat in front of the couch and watched him for a while before I decided to just scramble some eggs for us.

It didn't take long for the smell to envelope the house and wake me up. I sat up and reached in my bag for my inhaler, feeling sore and instantly shaken by last night. I wasn't even sure how many puffs I'd need. Then there was the familiar sound of the medicine; puff, inhale and puff again - inhale one more time.
I was so tired. Maybe it was a dream but then that smell grabbed my attention again.

Re: And he doesn't even know...
I heard an inhaler go off and turned around. "Good morning." I said softly, finishing the ham and cheese scrambled eggs. "Breakfast is ready."
Re: And he doesn't even know...
I laid it on the table and got up, back popping and making my eyes go wide in shock. Okay, I hated that couch but I wasn't going to tell her that now.
"Smell's good... I'm sorry, I would have gotten up and cooked..."

Re: And he doesn't even know...
"It's okay!" I said, trying to act my normal, cheery self. "I really didn't have much else to do so I decided to make breakfast."
Re: And he doesn't even know...
I sat down at the table and rubbed my temples before deciding it was a good time to call the school and ask for internet coarses.
Temporarily, at least until I could transfer to a different school closer to Sam.
"One sec, Sammy." I got back up and walked out of the room to make the call.

Re: And he doesn't even know...
"Okay..." I said softly, mostly to myself. I took a bite of the food I'd made and complimented myself. It was wonderful food.
Re: And he doesn't even know...
I returned and started to eat after saying grace with her. I wasn't sure what to say, it felt so tense but I had to help with the moment.
"I'll stay here with you for a while, is that okay?"

Re: And he doesn't even know...
"If you want, but don't you need to go to class?" I asked softly. "Actually, never mind. I'd really appreciate you staying. It's too quiet."
Re: And he doesn't even know...
I smiled, "I'm doing online coarses, I explained that it's a family situation and that I need to be home for a while." I mostly picked at the food, yes, it was delicious, but I was exhausted.
"This is amazing, Sam. I'm just so tired..."

Re: And he doesn't even know...
"Then go to bed." I said softly, trying to give him a sweet smile. I'll still be here when you wake up. I just need to find mom and dad's wills and make a few calls." I said, trying to keep from crying. Like I said before, I hate crying.

((Okay then!))
I frowned a little bit but I tried to give her some space, knowing that she possibly needed it. But had I done something wrong?
I tried not to feel bad as I left the room.

Re: And he doesn't even know...
"Have a good nap!" I called after him sweetly. "I'll cook lunch too, so don't sleep through it!"
Re: And he doesn't even know...
I came back though and sat back down, "First off... I'll finish eating this." I knew exactly how she felt, I felt the same way when my mother died and I never had anyone to go to but her.
And my father was absent as is.
"I'm going to take care of you." I said.

Re: And he doesn't even know...
I smiled. "Thank you... But you sure you just don't want to go to bed?" I couldn't keep from smiling. He was so good to me... Even after so long.
